- Once you have your storage boxes, old or new, purchase your Valspar spray paint and get creative. Why not browse your child's book collection for some big bold imagery or get online for inspiration? Remember, look for simple designs or shapes as they will be easiest to re-create and are usually more effective.
- Of course you may prefer to follow the examples given here and use simple teddy bear, train or crayon designs. Start by lightly drawing the outline of your design on the self-adhesive plastic.
- Once you've drawn your outline carefully cut your chosen design out. You now have your mask.
- Remove the backing from the repositionable self-adhesive plastic and apply to the surface of your storage box. Before you begin spraying place down plenty of newspaper to protect the floor and surrounding area when spraying.
- Spray the White Primer all over the stencil then wait 20 minutes.
- If you are following the train design you need to cover over the train's chimney while you spray the main body of the train as both areas are different colours. To do this place newspaper over the chimney (ensuring there is a big overlap) and stick down with masking tape. Pay particular attention to the point where the chimney meets the trains body, stick a strip of tape along this edge so that when sprayed you will have a clean line. Now spray Gloss Real Red, leave this to dry for 45 minutes.
- Once dry carefully remove the paper mask from the turret. You now need to place a paper mask over the main body of the train and stick down with masking tape, again paying particular attention to the point where the train's body meets the chimney so you achieve a clean line when sprayed. Now spray Gloss Royal Blue
- To finish carefully remove all the mask after the image is completely dry, allow 45 minutes.
Note: Always follow usage instructions on the reverse of Valspar Spray Paint cans.
